If you want to place baby facing outwards, we recommend placing his legs inside the wrap folded upwards. A baby less than 6 months old will tolerate being folded up as such. It is not rare to see a baby put his foot in his mouth while sitting like this. Always check to see that his pelvis is oriented towards the front so that his back is close to you and he is not swinging back and forth.
When baby has his legs out facing forward, it is impossible to bring his knees up in front and baby is automatically being supported uniquely by the crotch. He now finds himself with an increased risk of compressed genitalia, blood vessels and nerves that can also cut off the circulation to his legs. His back instead of being curved forward is arced slightly backwards. Use this position for short periods of time only.
